Beach Overview of New Yorks Beaches at the Atlantic Coast from the southwest to the northeast:

New York City - Staten Island (from the south to the north):

 

 

 

Midland Beach Fishing Pier - The Midland Beach Fishing Pier is situated southwest of South Beach. Both beaches have a leveled sandy beach with small waves. Some stones are located at the shoreline. At the Midland Beach Fishing Pier, there is a pier and a wooden boardwalk. The boardwalk leads to the South Beach. Restrooms are provided at this beach. No parking fee is charged at the Midland Beach Fishing Pier. The parking spaces are limited (as at: Mai 2010).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

South Beach - The leveled South Beach at Staten Island is situated south of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. The waves are small at the South Beach. A wooden boardwalk leads to the Midland Beach Fishing Pier. There are also restaurants and a snack bar at the boardwalk. No parking fee is charged at the South Beach. The parking spaces are limited (as at: Mai 2010).

 

 

 

 

 

New York City - Brooklyn (from west to east):

 

 

 

Coney Island Beach - Coney Islands beach is a white sandy beach. Coney Island is well known as amusement park. After Word War II, the attraction of Coney Islands amusement park declined. You can get from New York City to Coney Island by car or by subway. There are restrooms and showers at Coney Island.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brighton Beach - Brighton Beach is situated next to Coney Islands beach. Brighton Beach is a leveled white sandy beach.  You can get from New York City to Coney Island by car or by subway. There are restrooms and showers at Coney Island. There are parking meters and limited parking space at Brighton Beach (as at: September 2008).

 

 

 

 

 

 

Manhattan Beach - The beach at Manhattan Beach is situated at a small sandy bay with white leveled sand. There is a parking fee at the parking lot of this beach

 

 

 

 

 

 

New York City - Queens (from west to east):

 

 

 

Rockaway Beach - Rockaway Beach is a beautiful white sandy beach. Thanks to the air corridor to New Yorks John F. Kennedy (JFK) airport, there are lots of airplanes flying over Rockaway Beach.

 

 

 

 

 

Howard Beach - The beach at Howard Beach is close to the New Yorks JFK airport.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Long Island without New York City (from the west to the east):

 

 

 

Jones Beach State Park - One of the most famous beaches at Long Island is at Jonas Beach State Park. The 6.5 miles long beach is white and sandy. You need a car or a rental car to get to Jonas Beach State Park. During high season*, there is a entrance fee resp. parking fee (as at: October 2009). There are restrooms and showers at Jones Beach.

   Mai 23 till September 13: $8.-

Robert Moses State Park - The Robert Moses State Park is located at the western end of the Fire Island. Fire Island is an island, that is situated off the coast of Long Island. At the beach of the Robert Moses State Park, there are some shells. Showers, Restrooms and a Snack Bar are provided. The parking fee resp. entrance fee is $8.-. The entrance fee is charged till 4pm (as at: Mai 2010).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heckscher State Park (West Beach) - The beach at the Heckscher State Park isn’t very pretty. There are more beautiful beaches at Long Island. At the sandy beach of the Heckscher State Park, there are parts of plants and small stones. A playground, restrooms and a campground are provided. The entrance fee resp. the parking fee is $8.- from April 03 until October 12. The entrance fee is $10.- if the beach is open (as at: Mai 2010).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Smith Point County Park (Fire Island) - The Smith Point County Park is located at the Fire Island. Restrooms and a Snack Bar are provided. Close to the beach, there is the TWA Flight 800 International Memorial, which reminds of the crash of an TWA airplane (Boing 747) in 1996. The parking fee resp. entrance fee is $10.- for tourists and $5.- for residents (as at: Mai 2010).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Southampton Beach (Road D) - The beach at Southampton Beach is probably the best beach at Long Island. Free parking spaces are available at the Road D. There are only a few parking spaces available. It is the only parking lot at the beach of Southampton Beach were no parking fee is charged  (as at: Mai 2010).  Southampton Beach / Coopers Beach - There’s a  Beachside Cafe at Coopers Beach. The parking fee is expensive. The fee at the parking lot of Coopers Beach is  $40.- per day. A parking ticket costs $250.- at Coopers Beach (as at: Mai 2010).

 

 

 

 

 

East Hampton Main Beach - During the season (from Mai 15 until September 15), a parking fee of $25.- per day is charged at the Main Beach of East Hampton. Hither Hills State Park - Showers, restrooms, a playground, a Snack Bar and a campground are provided at the Hither Hills State Park. The entrence fee resp. the parking fee is $8.- at the Hither Hills State Park. The entrence fee is $10.- if the beach is open (as at: Mai 2010).

 

 

 

 

 

Montauk (Kirk Park Beach) - Restrooms are provided at the Kirk Park Beach at Montauk. The parking fee is $10.- (as at: Mai 2010). Free parking spaces are available at the city of Montauk.
