Kekaha Kai State Park:
The road at the Kekaha Kai State Park is in a pretty bad condition. A high clearence vehicle (e.g. a SUV) is recomended. Rental cars are normaly not allowed at the road to the Kekaha Kai State Park (check your rental agreement first). Mahai’ula Beach:
The Mahai’ula Beach is located at the Mahai’ula Bay. The small parking lot is situated next to the road that leads to the beach. Restrooms are provided at the leveled sandy beach.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Makalawena Beach:
The Makalawena Beach is located at the Puu Alii Bay. The parking lot is situated at the road that leads to the Mahai’ula Beach. A trail leads from the parking lot to the Makalawena Beach. Lava rocks are situated at the side of the white sandy Makalawena Beach.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kukio Beach:
The drive to the picturesque Kukio Beach leads through the gate of the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. The guard at the gate stops all cars. If you ask for the beach access to the Kukio Beach, you get driving directions and a parking permit that must be displayed at the dashboard. Showers and restrooms are provided at the small parking lot. No entrance fee and no parking fee is charged at the Kukio Beach (as at: September 2011).

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anaehoomalu Beach Park:

Pu’ukohola Heiau National Historic Site:
A small beach is located at the northern part of the Pu’ukohola Heiau National Historic Site. Restrooms and parking spces are provided at the visitor center of the Pu’ukohola Heiau National Historic Site. An extremely small beach is located at the Keokea Beach Park. Most beaches in Hawaii (Big island) are prettier than this beach! Restrooms are provided. Pololu Valley Beach:
A hiking trail leads to the black sandy beach at the Pololu Valley. Warning signs inform about the strong currents and the dangerous shorebreak. No parking fee is charged at the small parking lot at the Pololu Valley Overlook (as at: September 2011).

 

 

 

 

 

Waipio Valley Beach:
A steep road leads to the black sandy beach at the Waipio Valley. Fourwheeldrive is required at this road. Rental cars are not allowed at this road.
